Product Description |

With its high-end component-video DVD outputs, VHS recording and playback abilities, built-in MP3 decoding, and compatibility with JPEG image CDs and Kodak Picture CDs, Samsung's DVD-V4600 DVD/VCR combo is a conveniently slim entertainment dynamo. Now you'll be able to enjoy a slideshow of your digital pictures right on your television. It will play video-mode DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW discs, too, making it a great gift for family members with whom you'd like to share your home videos on DVD. This model also includes front-panel audio/video inputs so you can quickly and easily hook up a camcorder or gaming console. Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVD-V4600 stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The VCR delivers hi-fi stereo sound and quasi-S-VHS (SQPB) playback, which lets you view S-VHS cassettes--normally only playable on high-end S-VHS machines--in standard VHS resolution. The unit's 4-head design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images. Use the VCR's advance-record settings to make sure you never miss a favorite show or pertinent one-time broadcast. Top-of-the-line component-video outputs (for DVD only) help minimize digital and line-scan artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring DVD compatibility with nearly any television. The VCR output is composite-video and RF only. A set of left/right analog-audio outputs for both DVD and VCR components channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound DVD signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each optical and coaxial) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. Another handy feature is EZ View letterbox eliminator, which lets you enjoy full-screen pictures on 4:3 aspect-ratio TVs--even when you're watching widescreen DVDs. What's in the Box DVD/VCR combo unit, IR remote control, 2 AA batteries, user's manual, stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable, and warranty information.

| I have had this unit for about a year and a half. It has worked extremely well. So well in fact that I purchased another one for my classroom. Unfortunately it was stolen from my storage closet over the summer so I need to purchase another one. In fact, I think I'll order one today. |

| I bought this item to use in my class room as few QUALITY videos are available for math, and of those available, I don't always have the option of the preferred DVD. It is small and easily connected. The price was within my budget and ease of operation a must. I am very pleased with this product. |
Great DVD-VHS player

| I have had the V4600 for two years now. It has worked great. I was hoping to purchase another one from Best Buy, unfortunately they no longer carry them. I am somewhat bewildered by all the poor reviews. I noticed that some were having problems with the movie locking up. My experience has been that there is something on the disk itself, it is not the DVD player. The disk simply needs to be cleaned with Windex and a paper towel. I have recorded many movies with the same three-hour tape for the last two years and the tape still records perfectly. Programming for recording movies at specified times is easy. My only regret is that I am able to only have seven events to be recorded. I have it playing into an 18 year old Quasar TV without any problems. I would postulate that most of the people that are complaining cannot even program the "Time" into any VHS/DVD. |
